Raw Mango Dal

This recipe is also well known as Aam Dal in Hindi, this is a must have food in summer season. As the raw mangoes are available in summer season only and this Dal recipe is one of the great way to enjoy the tangy taste of these raw green mangoes. This recipe is a very simple one to prepare and is enjoyed with plain boiled rice. Here I am sharing my recipe of Raw Mango Dal




Time for Preparation : 10 minutes
Time for Cooking : 25 minutes
Serves 4 People    

Ingredients for Raw Mango Dal

1 cup Moong Dal (green gram)
1 cup Masoor Dal (red lentils)
2 Raw Mangoes (peeled and sliced)
3 Dried Red Chilies
½ Tsp Black Mustard Seed
½ Tsp Turmeric Powder
Salt to taste
2 Tbsp Mustard Oil
4 cups of water

How to make Raw Mango Dal

Mix both the dals (moon dal and masoor dal) together and soak them in water.



Now take the 4 cups of water in a deep bottom pan or a wok.



Bring the water to a point of boiling.



Now drain the water from the dal and add the dal to the boiling water.



Add the turmeric powder and salt to the dal and let it boil.



Now add the mango slices to the boiling dal.



Let the dal boil and the raw mangoes get cooked.



Now remove the dal from the heat and keep it aside. Place another deep bottom pan or a wok and add the mustard oil, heat it.



Now add the dried red chilies into the hot oil.



Add the black mustard seeds to the oil and let it crackle.



Now pour the cooked mango dal into the oil and again bring it to boiling point.



Yummy Raw Mango Dal is now ready. Serve it hot with plain rice.
